UNRWA aims to give Palestine refugee students a basic education
comparable to that provided in government schools in the region,
so that they are on an equal footing in gaining access to
educational and employment opportunities. Consequently, UNRWA
schools use the same curricula and textbooks as the host government/Authority
schools, and pupils sit, wherever applicable, for national
exams at each stage of the education cycle.
Targeted Education Programs Include:
Remedial Education Program:

Teaching conflict resolution and human
rights
The Friends of UNRWA will support a unique
curriculum created by UNRWA that teaches conflict resolution
and human rights to more than 500,000 refugee children in
UNRWA schools in all five areas of operations. Students and
teachers in all UNRWA schools have, enthusiastically embraced
this unique curriculum. Students have created artwork to illustrate
their understanding of and support for the curriculum, two
examples of such artwork from UNRWA schools in Ramallah and
Beirut are shown below.
In both cases the students shown in the respective
art works are stating their right to receive an education.
Please revisit this site as we develop our
programs to support this very unique and needed curriculum.
